Early hashers ended their runs at a cheap bar/ restaurant, referred to as the hash house. Soon the enterprising proprietor followed his customers on their runs with his beer truck to supply them with enough energy to reach the food and more beer at the finish.
Present-day Hash food continues the tradition of cheap and plentiful. Tortilla chips, salsa, and M&Ms calm the hungry hordes at most Southern California Hashes while they wait for the real food. |
